This programme initiative encourages students to unleash their creativity and engage in literary expression. This platform allows students to showcase their work, fostering a love for writing while enhancing their skills through reading peers’ submissions. Let’s embrace the power of creativity!

  • Encourage Creativity: Inspire students to harness their imagination and embark on their creative journey.
  • Submission Platform: Provide a space for students to express their emotions through their writing, boosting their confidence.
  • Peer Learning: Through reading and interacting with other submissions, students can learn and improve their writing skills.

Target Audience

All primary and secondary school students in Hong Kong

Submission Details

This initiative operates on an individual basis, and no prior registration is required. Students must log in with their EdCity accounts to submit their works, with no limit on the number of submissions. Please refer to the “Submission Guidelines” for important details.

Submission Topics

Primary

(Themes: gratitude, relationships, reflection)
1. Write a thank you letter to someone important in your life. 

(Themes: imagination, aspirations)
2. You have a magic pen that can bring anything you draw to life. What do you
draw?

Secondary

(Themes: discovery, sci-fi, exploration)
1. Every year a new person is sent to the moon, and now it’s your turn. What
happens when you step out of the rocket?

(Themes: imagination, nature)
2. You’re a wild animal living in safari. Which animal would you like to be? 

Schedule

The 2024/25 program will be conducted in two phases:

  • Phase 1: January 1, 2025 – May 31, 2025
  • Phase 2: June 1, 2025 – August 15, 2025 (Summer Special Program; scores will not count towards PICCK, but students can still compete for the Young Thinkers’ Spark Awards)

Award Results

  • All shortlisted entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges based on the criteria of:
    • Creativity and Emotional Impact: The extent to which the writing resonates with readers.
    • Structure and Organisation: Logical flow and coherence of the piece.
    • Language and Style: Use of language, including grammar, vocabulary, and stylistic choices.

  • Winning students’ schools will receive notifications regarding award collection.

Awards for Each Phase

  • Champion (1 for each Primary / Secondary level): Certificate and prizes
  • 1st Runner-Up (1 for each Primary / Secondary level): Certificate and prizes
  • 2nd Runner-Up (1 for each Primary / Secondary level): Certificate and prizes
  • Most Popular Work Award (3 for each Primary / Secondary level): Certificate and commemorative gifts
