Self-learning Course
Information literacy is the ability and attitude to promote students to use information effectively and ethically, enabling students to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners. The “Stellar Kit for Information Literacy Launch” program integrates EDB’s “Information Literacy for Hong Kong Students” Learning Framework”, allowing students to first understand information and its healthy use, then proceed with relevant information literacy education. The designed content covers nine major information literacy domains, cultivating students’ ability and proper attitude to use information effectively and ethically. It aims to develop the following abilities in students:
- identify the need for information
- locate, evaluate, retrieve, organise, present and share information
- create new ideas
- cope with the dynamics in the information world
- refrain from unethical use of information and information technology
- protect oneself in the digital world
Course Content
Information and Health Use Program
- Unit 1: Basic concepts of the Internet
Get a basic understanding of the concept and purpose of computers, understand the various components and functions of computers, and get a basic understanding of the Internet - Unit 2: Identification of Internet Information
Identify reliable sources of information, distinguish true from false information, and understand basic verification methods - Unit 3: Social Media and Health
Establish healthy social media habits and explore the impact of social media on health
Test:
After completing the course (3 units in toal), students will be required to take a test to validate their learning. The maximum score is 100, with a passing score of 70, retakes are permitted. An e-certificate will be awarded upon completion.

The test records in the PICCKS system will take effect on November 30, 2025. Tests completed before this date will not be included in the system. However, the process for students to obtain an e-certificate upon completion of a test will remain unaffected and will be issued as usual.
