The Creative Speech Competition (CSC) aims to empower students to speak their creative mind confidently while making a positive impact on their audience. Through recording / public speaking opportunities, students will develop their presentation skills and build their confidence and self-assurance. Being a well-versed articulator of thoughts and an effective communicator with a positive mind will enable students to understand others better and express their opinions in social settings. 

Objectives: 

  • To promote creative thinking and stretch imagination in students; 
  • To enhance students’ presentation skills and self-confidence;  
  • To spread positivity and advocate a positive mindset; and 
  • To encourage students to show love, appreciation and kindness to society.  

Levels of Entry: 

  • Primary Level (Primary 4 to Primary 6) 
  • Secondary Level (Secondary 1 to Secondary 4)

Topics for Presentation 

Participants can create their own scripts (around one-minute speech) from ONE of the following seven topics. The script should demonstrate the value of POSITIVE THINKING.

Interested parties can register online with their script before the deadline OR by returning the Registration Form with the script on or before 12 April 2024 to Hong Kong Education City by fax (2624 1088) or by email to mansonli@hkecl.net. Whether registrants are enrolled through teachers or parents, only one entry can be submitted in the submission stage.

Judging Criteria

1st Stage:

  • The script will be judged on the quality of its content and creativity. Demonstration of positive thinking and values in the script is also essential.

2nd Stage:

  • The recording will be judged on the quality of its content and creativity, as well as the speaker’s presentation skills. Demonstration of positive thinking and values in the speech is also essential.

Final Stage:

  • The Judging Panel will judge from the Top 20 in two parts: their videos from 2nd Stage and a live performance in this stage, based on the same criteria in 2nd Stage.

Terms & Conditions (T&C)

Participating students, teachers and school indicate to acceptance of the following terms and conditions

  • All personal information will be used for the competition only. For the purpose of public announcements, the school name and student name will be published on the website. Other information of the participating students will be kept confidential and they will be deleted 6 months after the competition.
  • The participating entry is original. Any part regardless the portion of the content reference from other sources, the participating student must be quoted and cited properly for use.
  • The participating students agree that the organiser, EdCity, may use, copy, publish, and/or adapt the videos and materials for publicity and competition-related purposes. EdCity will not enquire permission for use individually. Videos and materials can be kept without expiry.
  • The decision of the Judging Panel shall be final.
  • The participating students warrant that the entries do not contain any obscene, abusive, violent, religious, political, defamatory, or other inappropriate content.
  • The participating students warrant that the entries comply with the laws of Hong Kong SAR. The participating students take full responsibility in case of any disputes in relation to any infringement. 
  • Awardees must reserve 6 July (Saturday) for attending the Prize Presentation Ceremony. Failure to attend the Ceremony may result in forfeiture of the award.
  • The Terms & Conditions may be reviewed and amended from time to time when deemed necessary. Participating students should check the competition webpage for latest T&C.
